Membership in the Louisiana Association of Behavioral Providers is open to all currently licensed Behavioral Health Service Providers with the Louisiana Department of Health Standards.  This includes all behavioral health and substance abuse programs, i.e. hospitals, group homes, residential treatment, MHR, Homebuilders, FFT, MST, ACT and other licensed programs.

There are 2 levels of membership for your consideration:

Governing Board Membership

Governing Board members meet monthly to discuss current issues in the behavioral health Medicaid program identified by providers around the State and vote on priorities and positions to take on these issues. The governing board sets the direction for our President and lobbyists who represent the Board’s views with the Louisiana Department of Health, Office of Behavioral Health, Medicaid, the legislature, the administration, Managed Care Companies, and other provider groups. The LABHP Governing Board members each have one vote in key decisions made by the Board.

To be a member of the LABHP Governing Board you:
A. Must be currently licensed by the Louisiana Department of Health Standards as a Behavioral Health Service Provider (BHSP).
B. Must be accredited by a national accrediting body (e.g. CARF, COA, JCHO, FFT, MST, or Homebuilders) for at least 2 years prior to applying for membership.
C. Must attest that your agency is not affiliated with another provider association who retains their own lobbyist to represent their interest.
D. Must attest that your agency/organization or its owners/leadership have no pending malpractice suits, felonies or convictions, and have never been excluded from providing Medicaid or Medicare services.
E. Must attest to follow all regulations and standards in the current Medicaid Behavioral Health Manual.
F. Must agree to pay monthly dues (Currently $300/month) to the Board in order to maintain our lobbyist.

Affiliate Membership

Affiliate membership provides access to the LABHP Governing Board and its positions and decisions. Affiliate members are polled regularly on their views on various topics affecting their provider agencies. Their views are given priority consideration in positions taken by the Governing Board. Affiliate members also receive first-hand information about upcoming changes in Medicaid policy, issues that affect providers in dealing with the MCO’s and LDH, and decisions that may help agencies be more proactive in planning for their future. Our goal is to help agencies minimize the effects of these changes on affiliate members so that they can plan for their future and continue to remain fiscally sound. Information is shared by email and by open forum for members only on this website.
